Thomas' journey into HR education began nearly 40 years ago working on a labor-management training program alongside his Miami University professor and an FMCS Mediator. That experience ignited a passion for teaching that has spanned decades across multiple institutions and continents. He's taught at the University of Cincinnati, Miami University's Farmer School of Business, and Dalian University of Technology's International Graduate program in China. Beyond academia, he operates his own HR consulting practice and has held various HR positions across organizations. This combination gives him the rare perspective to understand both what theory teaches and what real organizations need.

Nominated as one of Miami's Outstanding Professors of the Year by the Association of Student Government in 2025, he's known for empowering students through active learning and practical application. He partnered with the state of Ohio to develop a training program proposal for a 2,000-employee, $916 million manufacturing startup in Sidney, Ohio. His HR Certification Preparation Courses maintain an 88% success rate, helping professionals earn credentials that advance their careers. He's presented at the Ohio HR Conference and Management Faculty of Color National Conference, and co-authored The Career Navigator Workbook along with two other HR and organizational behavior textbooks. His students and clients don't just learn HR theory; they gain the practical skills, professional networks, and certifications needed to succeed.
